Whether we realize it or not, the modern world around us depends critically on the use and application of magnetism and magnetic fields. Permanent magnets in particular, are vital elements of so many “enabling” technologies, and yet, because they so often remain hidden from view, these “modern day marvels” are not as well understood as they might be.
The purpose of the Terra Magnetica blog is to provide information, commentary and hopefully useful perspective on all aspects of permanent magnets and their applications. Specifically, we’re interested in permanent magnet materials [e.g. Nd-Fe-B, Sm-Co, Alnico & ceramic ferrite], the technology and processes used in producing magnets, as well as the current and emerging uses and applications for them. We’re also interested to share insights on sourcing issues, industry news and trends, and to get feedback from you too.
