These cells can be used along with a downhole generator when the pumps are off and at the same time, surveys have to be powered. The generator charges the battery during drilling. The operating temperature window is from 0C to 125C that is the case for a majority of today's drilling jobs. As a worse case scenario, a Saft li-ion battery can replace at least 10 primary lithium-batteries, saving significant drilling time, it significantly reduces the number of trip out of holes.
