Good information.
Our design of the permanent magnet direct drive wind turbines make the nacelle and the generator separated, and it works quite good.
For more information of our wind turbines, pls contact eric@ruiqineng.com.

Hello Joe:

No, Figures 2 and 3 show different systems. It's hard to describe the magnet locations in each; in Figure 2 they are in the blue shaft-mounted section inside of the set of yellow rectangular-looking objects arrayed around the shaft, towards the right of the image. In Figure 3, they are buried inside the housing.

It would be nice to indicate some parts of the gear box in figure 2.
Figure 3 is the back view of figure 2, am I right?
Which are the permanent magnets ? Where are they located ?
Thanks, nice article !

Hello Chris,

There are not a whole lot of online resources on the supply chain aspects of Nd-Fe-B. I will be certainly be adding articles on this subject here soon. In the meantime, you might consider the following Web sites:

* Magnetics Business & Technology
* Peter Campbell's MagnetWeb site
* Stan Trout's "Spontaneous Thoughts"

If you have any specific questions I'd be happy to try to address them, either here or via email at ghatch -at- terramagnetica.com .
